Kindness Pays

Today was a good day. The sun was shining beautifully when I woke up, and even though another winter storm is moving, for a little while it looked almost spring-like. Hubby and I had brunch with two other couples which was terrific. On our way home, we decided to stop at Lowes.

We love Lowes. And right now, spring fever has hit the store. Seeds, flower pots, patio furniture are everywhere. We decided to buy some grass seed and some Turfbuilder to try to boost our yard a bit. I also bought an African violet and some herb seeds.

When we pulled up to the checkout lane, Hubby helped the salesgirl move the grass seed and fertilize bags around because they were very heavy. She thanked him a couple of times which made me think that people may not always do that sort of thing for her. As I swiped my debit card, she pulled out a coupon for 10% off the total purchase.

"A gentleman earned this coupon earlier and didn't want it," she said. "He told me to give it to the first person who came through the line who was nice to me. And you guys are nice, so you're getting 10% off today if you want it!"

Well, heck yeah I wanted it! I thanked her and told her it was nice that someone was feeling the Valentine love today.

Walking out I wondered why the person didn't want their coupon. I guess it doesn't matter but I really was touched and appreciative of the savings. Hopefully, I can pay something like this forward in the future.

That is really cool! How neat that someone did that and that you got to benefit. I love random acts of kindness and wish there were more of them! :-)
