Mom's Broccoli Salad

My mom served this salad over the weekend and it was the highlight of the meal. That's saying a lot because my mom is an awesome cook!

1 and 1/2 cup mayonnaise
1/2 cup sour cream
1/4 cup sugar
1 bunch broccoli, cut into bite sized florets
1/2 head califlower, cut into bite sized florets
1 small red onion, chopped
3/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese
3 oz container of real bacon bits

In a large bowl, combine the mayo, sour cream and sugar. Mix well.
Add the remaining ingredients, mix until well combined. Cover and chill for at least 4 hours. It's best to make a day (or two) ahead of time so the flavors can really mingle.

Tip: Mom uses Miracle Whip rather than mayo. Since Miracle Whip is a touch sweeter than mayo, I think 1/4 cup might have been just a tad too much. Keep this in mind if you decide to substitute Miracle Whip.
